We are excited to announce that on Sunday, September 30 the CAA Centre was officially opened, sponsored by the Canadian Automobile Association of South Central Ontario (CAA SCO). It was fun-filled day for all in attendance.
The ceremony began at 12:45 PM with representatives from the CAA Centre, the City of Brampton and the CAA SCO, each of whom spoke a few words prior to the cutting of the ribbon to welcome those in attendance, as well as all future attendees to the CAA Centre.
The Brampton Beast Fan Fest was a free event, and boasted five zones that were set up in and around the arena, which included the CAA Interactive zone. This zone featured interactive games, some delicious samosas and an exciting contest. CAA SCO also offered free battery testing for vehicles outside in the parking lot, a great idea before the colder weather starts to sneak up on us! The Brampton Beast Fan Fest also included many other interactive games such as “Plinko” and “Sauce Toss,” and everyone was invited to enjoy the live entertainment provided while enjoying delicious hot dogs from the Maple Lodge Farms food truck.
Also included in the festivities was a preseason game between the Beast and the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks, which began at 2 PM. The game came all the way down to the final moments but it was the Golden Hawks that skated to victory in a very close 5-4 final score. Once the game concluded, the ice was opened to the public for skating.
October is breast cancer awareness month, along with the awesome pink fire truck from the City of Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, the Centre also played host to the CIBC Run for the Cure in Brampton, prior to the Fan Fest and official opening. The CIBC Run for the Cure is the largest, single-day, volunteer-led event dedicated to changing the future of breast cancer!
The CAA Centre official opening and Brampton Beast Fan Fest was a terrific event and an enjoyable day was had by all those in attendance, including Brampton Mayor, Linda Jeffrey. We would like to thank everyone who dropped in and supported the event and the Beast. We look forward to seeing you again next year, at the Brampton Beast Fan Fest.
We would like to also give a heartfelt thank you to our sponsor CAA SCO! If you would like more information about the great products and services offered by CAA, please visit the CAA website.
